Jim is a registered patent attorney specializing in patent preparation and prosecution in the electrical, software, and medical device areas. Prior to joining Shumaker & Sieffert, Jim was an associate with the Minneapolis intellectual property law firm of Vidas, Arrett & Steinkraus.

Before practicing as a patent attorney, Jim worked as an engineer for 8 years with Motorola, 3Com, and Baltimore Gas and Electric.
