Robert Ray is a registered Patent Attorney with Shumaker & Sieffert, P.A., focusing his practice on patent prosecution in the electrical, computer hardware, computer software, medical device, optical and mechanical fields.
Before attending law school, Robert was a senior design engineer with LSI Logic, an industry leader in Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC). While with LSI, he played an integral role in facilitating integration of mixed-signal (analog and digital) components on ASIC chips, including development of overall design methodology and solving design-specific integration problems dealing with circuit design, integration, and layout.
While with LSI, Robert also developed various software based proprietary tools to facilitate design integration, quality assurance testing, timing model creation, and customer release.
As an attorney and full-time law clerk, Robert has nearly four years of experience prosecuting patent applications, preparing opinions, and providing client advice in a variety of technical areas, including inventions relating to semiconductor devices, structures, and methods of operation; medical devices including implantable and external pacemakers and defibrillators; atomic force microscopy, and a variety of computer software. In addition, Robert has acquired experience in contract drafting, negotiation, and Patent Interference Practice.
