Shumaker & Sieffert sponsored the AIPLA Women in IP Committee’s 2020 Community Service Event for St. Paul, MN. As part of the continued efforts to mitigate and suppress the spread of COVID-19, the firm organized an at-home volunteer event making tie fleece blankets for inclusion in Welcome Home kits distributed to local nonprofits by the Greater Twin Cities United Way. The Welcome Home kits are full of essential supplies to support local families and individuals transitioning from homelessness into stable housing.

The event had an amazing turnout, with 26 volunteers participating and together making a total of 80 blankets! Shumaker & Sieffert provided the blanket-making materials for the volunteers and coordinated contact-less pickup of the completed blankets. The firm also hosted a virtual social hour on November 2, 2020, at which the volunteers were able to connect, laugh, and share blanket-making tips. The 80 blankets were used in the 650 Welcome Home kits assembled and distributed by the Greater Twin Cities United Way. The event was coordinated by Darcy Shukla and Leslie Callahan of Shumaker & Sieffert.
