The USPTO acted swiftly to implement the CARES Act and provide relief for Applicants and other persons associated with certain patent filings and fee payments. Under the USPTO Notice, a person unable to meet a timing deadline for an eligible filing or fee payment due to the COVID-19 outbreak may qualify for a waiver that grants a 30-day extension of time from the initial due date. To qualify, the submission must also be accompanied by a statement attributing the delay to the COVID-19 outbreak.
