Notice of Waiver of Patent-Related Timing Deadlines under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act

The USPTO acted swiftly to implement the CARES Act and provide relief for Applicants and other persons associated with certain patent filings and fee payments. Under the USPTO Notice, a person unable to meet a timing deadline for an eligible filing or fee payment due to the COVID-19 outbreak may qualify for a waiver that grants a 30-day extension of time from the initial due date. To qualify, the submission must also be accompanied by a statement attributing the delay to the COVID-19 outbreak.
